Armenian killed in Damascus suburb blast

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian-born Sarkis Meresjian, 47, was killed in the blast that rocked a suburb of Damascus the other day.

The civil funeral will take place Thursday, Aug 8, in St. Sarkis Church in the Syrian capital, PanARMENIAN.Net was told.

According to UN estimates, 100 000 people died in Syria during the 2-year armed conflict, about 50 of them are Armenians. Besides, people of Armenian origin have been many times kidnapped and held to ransom.
