Twitter video app Vine tops 40 million usersAugust 22, 2013 - 16:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Twitter-owned video service Vine has passed the milestone of 40 million registered users, Digital Spy said. The platform managed to increase its subscriber base by 13 million since June, despite fierce competition from Instagram. "We've said this before and we'll say it again: this community - now more than 40 million of you - is amazing. Thank you for inspiring us," read a statement from the Vine team. Facebook added video functionality to Instagram in June, a move that some expected would prompt an exodus from Vine. Although there were initial reports of declined usage of the Twitter video app, it was named as the number one non-gaming application on the App Store in June. Twitter brought Vine to iOS devices in January, and ported the application to Android smartphones over the summer.
