Tom Hanks in “Captain Phillips” thriller trailer (video) August 26, 2013 - 16:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Captain Phillips has released a new international trailer, Digital Spy said. The film stars Tom Hanks in the title role as the captain of a ship hijacked by Somali pirates. It tells the true story of how the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama became the first American cargo ship to be captured at sea in 200 years. Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro and Angus MacInnes also star in the Paul Greengrass-directed thriller. The screenplay was written by The Hunger Games' Billy Ray, and is based on the real-life Captain Richard Phillips and Stephan Talty's book A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea. The film will open the 57th BFI London Film Festival, which runs from October 9 to October 20. Captain Phillips will be released in the US on October 11 and in the UK on October 18.
