"Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin'" doc to be released in NovSeptember 10, 2013 - 16:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin’, a feature-length PBS American Masters documentary about guitar legend Jimi Hendrix will be released in November, Rolling Stone said. The film, directed by Bob Smeaton (Festival Express; The Beatles Anthology, Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child, Hendrix 70: Live at Woodstock), includes never-before-seen footage, home movies, photographs, drawings, family letters, interviews with Hendrix as well as commentary by Paul McCartney, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Eddie Kramer, and Steve Winwood. The release is timed to a year-long celebration of what would have been the late musician’s 70th birthday on November 27, 2012. Hendrix’s sister, Janie, President and CEO of Experience Hendirx LLC, told Rolling Stone, “Hear My Train A Comin is an in depth look at the life and legacy of Jimi with his own words as well as the words and memories of those that new knew him well and were close to him. His impression of the world through his genius, music and talent continue to magically touch the lives of ensuing generations.” In conjunction with the film’s release, Jimi Hendrix Experience: Miami Pop Fesitval, one of Hendrix’s most iconic performances as originally recorded by Hendrix’s sound engineer, Eddie Kramer, will be released as a single CD and limited edition double 12” audiophile vinyl. The festival recording features first recorded stage performances of “Hear My Train A Comin’” and “Tax Free,” as well as other hits like “Fire,” “Hey Joe,” “I Don’t Live Today,” and “Purple Haze.” The first major rock festival on the East Coast, the May 1968 festival was a groundbreaking event — the first ever promoted by Michael Lang, who was responsible for later organizing Woodstock. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 5th by Experience Hendrix LLC and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment.
