Dairy products prices soar by 12,2% in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - A 12,2% inflation for dairy products was posted in Armenia in September 2013, with the price growth in September totaling 0,3% against August results.

The National Statistical Service of Armenia revealed the following figures for September 2013 against the August prices: a 0,4% increase was posted for yogurt prices with prices for Lori, Chanakh and Cheddar cheeses growing by 0,4%, 1,2% and 6% respectively.

In January-August 2013, cheese production in Armenia dropped by 2,4% against the 2012 results to total 11 957 tons. 1 849 tons of cheese were manufactured in August.

Over the reporting period, milk production totaled 265,1 million liters, growing by 4.6% against the 2012 results. Curds and yogurt production increased by 23,1% and 10,5% to total 276,5 and 164,2 tons respectively; sour cream production grew by 17,9% to total 2 499 tons.

At present, over 70 cheese manufacturing companies are operating in Armenia, with over 25 sorts of cheese produced in the country.
