Selling of Hrazdan HPP 5th Power Unit to Russia to Have Positive Impact on Armenian EconomyApril 10, 2006 - 16:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The selling of the 5th power unit of the Hrazdan Heat Power Plant to Russia will have a positive impact on Armenia's economy and will encourage the export development of the Armenian output, Armenian President Robert Kocharian stated when on a short visit to Kotayk region of Armenia. In his words, thanks to this bargain Armenia will be receiving Russian gas at a guaranteed low price. "We agreed on a low price for gas for next three years and this will undoubtedly encourage the development of export of the Armenian output," the President said. When commenting on the discontent of the opposition the Armenian leader remarked that there are some political forces in Armenia that are always discontent with something. To note, according to the agreement achieved Armenia sells the 5th power unit of the Hrazdan Heat Power Plant to Russia for $248.8 million. The major part of the funds will be paid as compensation to gas consumers, reported IA Regnum. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit.
