Hammer Film's CEO Simon Oakes reveals to Total Film his plan to expand the horror story beyond trilogy for a new potential franchise, AceShowbiz said. "If your second's successful, then your third, then you've got a franchise," the producer explains. "I just don't believe in the notion that you can press a button and create a franchise, but, I mean, I'm definitely planning 3 and 4..." The second film "The Woman in Black: Angels of Death" is slated for U.K. release on February 13, 2015. Jeremy Irvine is tapped to play the new male lead, with Phoebe Fox and Helen McCrory in supporting roles. The horror movie is adapted from Susan Hill's novel of the same title. Tom Harper serves as a director, replacing James Watkins who helmed the first film. Jon Croker writes the screenplay, with Hill helping with the story. The synopsis reads, "Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh Harsh has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve's efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black."
