Iran says Obama remarks on nuke issue ‘totally wrong’

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran's Foreign Ministry has rejected President Barack Obama's remarks made during his State of the Union speech on the subject of Tehran's nuclear ambitions, the Associated Press reports.

Obama said in his annual address on Tuesday, Jan 28, that "American diplomacy, backed by pressure" led to the landmark November deal in which Iran agreed to cap its nuclear program in return for some sanction relief by the West.

On Thursday, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham dismissed that statement as a "totally wrong interpretation."

Afkham urged the U.S. to implement its own commitments under the deal to ease some sanctions against Iran.

She also rejected Obama's accusation against the Iran-backed Lebanese militant Hezbollah group, calling it instead a "popular group."

Obama called Hezbollah a "terrorist organizations, which threatens our allies."
