“Forrest Gump” voted best Oscar pic from past 64 years

PanARMENIAN.Net - ABC News Digital announced “Forrest Gump” as the winner of its interactive bracket challenge that it dubbed “The Best Oscar Movie from the Past 64 Years,” Variety said.

As part of ABC’s company-wide effort to promote the March 2 Oscarcast, ABC News invited users to select their favorite Oscar-winning films by voting via Facebook or Twitter. Nearly 529,000 votes were cast over the six rounds.

It came down to Forrest Gump and Don Corleone in the last round, where “Gump” garnered 54.8 percent of the vote against “The Godfather.”

The 1994 Tom Hanks pic also beat out contenders “Ben-Hur” and “The Lord of the Rings” during the final four, as well as “The Sound of Music” and “Rain Man.”
