“The Pinkie” wins Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lisa Takeba’s “The Pinkie” was awarded the Grand Prix at the 24th Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival, (Feb. 27 – March 3) in Yubari, Hokkaido, Variety said.

The winner of the fest’s main competition is a quirky drama about a girl who makes and lives with the clone of a guy she’s liked since age five, until the clone’s real-life model gets wind of her unusual lover. “The Pinkie,” which debuted in Rotterdam in January, also scooped the Cinegar Award Prize, decided by media at Yubari.

The Jury’s special award was won by Kurando Mitsutake’s “Gun Woman,” while the Governor of Hokkaido Prize went to Atsushi Uchida’s “Schoolgoirl’s Gestation” (Ryugu no Tsukai).

The Grand Prix in the international short film competition was awarded to Takahide Hori’s stop-motion animation “Junk Head 1.”
