“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2” hit comedy sequel gets release date March 19, 2014 - 12:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2” will open in limited release on March 6, 2015, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Participant Media said Tuesday, March 18, according to TheWrap. Fox Searchlight has worldwide rights and co-financed the film in association with Participant Media and Image Nation Abu Dhabi. The first film was a sleeper hit when it debuted in the summer of 2012, taking in $135 million worldwide on a production budget of $10 million. Stars Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Dev Patel return from the first film, as does director John Madden. Richard Gere, David Strathairn and Tamsin Greig have joined the cast. The story picks up where the first film left off, and features Indian hotelier Sonny (Patel) prepping for his marriage to Sunaina (Tena Desae).
