PayPal rolls out new services for mobile appsMarch 21, 2014 - 10:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - PayPal has announced that more than 2,000 UK high street shops and restaurants now accept digital payments through its mobile apps, Digital Spy said. The e-commerce firm has added new services to its smartphone applications to celebrate the milestone, introducing the Order Ahead and Pay at Table features. Order Ahead lets users pre-order and pay for food at 107 Wagamama restaurants around the country, with other partners expected to be announced in the future. Prezzo and Busaba Eathai are the launch partners for the Pay at Table service, allowing users to pay for meals at more than 200 eateries via their smartphone, with the option to split the bill between friends. "PayPal has built the biggest network of high street stores and restaurants that let their customers pay with the one thing they always take with them: their smartphone. It's the beginning of the end for the wallet on the high street," said Rob Harper, Head of Retail Services at PayPal UK. Elsewhere, PayPal users can also carry out transactions at Gourmet Burger Kitchen's 60 restaurants using their profile picture following a successful trial at the company's Richmond site last year.
