Bobby Cannavale to join Melissa McCarthy action comedy “Spy”March 29, 2014 - 13:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Bobby Cannavale and Nia Long are in negotiations to join the cast of Spy, the Melissa McCarthy action comedy Paul Feig is directing for Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McCarthy is starring in the movie, which at one point was titled Susan Cooper and centers on a CIA analyst who goes into the field to find the person responsible for the death of her lover. Jude Law is already on board as that lover, a suave super-spy, while Jason Statham will play an overconfident yet clumsy spy. Also in the cast are Rose Byrne and British comedienne Miranda Hart. Cannavale is playing one of the villains, an Italian playboy. Long will play one of the heads of the CIA. Feig will direct the film from a script he wrote. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing via their Chernin Entertainment banner along with Feig and Jessie Henderson via their Feigco Entertainment banner. Cannavale co-starred on Showtime's Nurse Jackie and also appears in Jon Favreau's upcoming indie Chef. He has Imagine, a drama with Al Pacino and Annette Bening, and Annie, Sony's remake starring Jamie Foxx, in the can and was recently cast in Martin Scorsese's untitled rock 'n' roll HBO pilot. Long was recently seen in The Single Moms Club and is part of the ensemble cast of the sequel to the surprise hit Best Man Holiday. She also recurred in Showtime's House of Lies.
