The music streaming service announced that an upgrade to its Android app would be released soon to combat the security breach. Some of Spotify's 40 million users will also be asked to re-enter their username and password details in the next few days. An investigation by the Swedish firm found that only one user was affected by the breach but password and financial data was not included. In a statement posted online, Spotify's CTO Oskar Stål said: "Based on our findings, we are not aware of any increased risk to users as a result of this incident." eBay was also a recent victim of a cyber attack and prompted its users to change their passwords as a result.
