Russia Solves Regional Problems via ArmeniaMay 17, 2006 - 16:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia is inactive in the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. The Russian MFA could be more active in assisting the Armenian side taking into account that fact that Russia solves all the regional problems via Armenia, political scientist Andranik Migranyan stated when addressing the international scientific conference titled "Caucasus without conflicts and terror: dialogue of civilizations on the Caucasian crossroad" held in Yerevan today. In his words, the present status quo cannot satisfy Armenia over several reasons. "Armenia experiences problems with all the neighbor states. It has no relations with Turkey and as a matter of fact an undeclared war is going on. The problem with Azerbaijan is the unsettled Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Georgia is a state that has failed to form so far. Iran experiences a nuclear problem that aggravates the complicated situation in the region," the Russian political scientist said. He also said that Armenia will face complete isolation as soon as the Russian military leave Georgia. Though, according to Migranyan, Iran can act as a balance state. At the same time he said if Washington and Moscow come to an agreement, all the regional conflicts and the Armenia-Turkey relations will be settled. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
