“Happy Endings” crime drama opens Croatia’s Pula Film FestivalJuly 21, 2014 - 16:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The President of Croatia, Ivo Josipovic, opened the Pula Film Festival Saturday, July 19 in the Pula Arena, the Roman amphitheater that serves as the fest’s main screening venue, Variety said. The opening ceremony, which aired live on local TV, was followed by the world premiere of “Happy Endings” a crime drama with a dark comedic edge about two unemployed middle-aged women who decide to open a massage palor. Pic is the feature directing debut of Darko Suvak, who has previously worked in the U.S. as a director of photography on films such as Joel Schumacher’s “Blood Creek.” The film plays as part of a 12-strong Croatian Feature Film Competition, which also includes documentary “Velvet Terrorists,” which played in Berlin’s Forum section, and black comedy “Monument to Michael Jackson,” which world premiered in the East of the West section at Karlovy Vary. Among the world premieres at Pula are war film “Broj 55,” rapist drama “The Reaper,” hitman drama “The Wind Blows” and thriller “The Bridge at the End of the World,” about ethnic tensions in a Croatian village. The debut features include Ivan Livakovic’s “The Enchanted Porkers,” Filip Peruzovic’s “Walk the Dog,” Bruno Pavic’s “Vlog,” and Vanja Svilicic’s “Zagreb Cappuccino.” Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
