U.S. cinemas to boycott “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” sequelOctober 1, 2014 - 19:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Four of the largest U.S. cinema companies have confirmed that they are boycotting the forthcoming Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel, Digital Spy said. It was announced yesterday (September 30) that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend will be released simultaneously on Netflix and in select IMAX theatres on August 28, 2015. However, AMC, Cinemark, Carmike and Regal have told Variety that they will not screen films released simultaneously across both platforms. Carmike spokesman Robert Rinderman said, "We are committed to an exclusive theatrical release for the enjoyment of our valued guests. We are therefore opposed to showing day and date releases at our entertainment complexes." The sequel will mark the first of many films that will be released on both formats at the same time. Netflix said that the move offers viewers "unprecedented choice". Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend follows Ang Lee's 2000 hit, with Yuen Wo-Ping taking over directing duties. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Yu Shu-Lien, and will be joined by Donnie Yen and Glee star Harry Shum Jr. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
