Nokia Here mapping app comes to Samsung Galaxy![]() October 9, 2014 - 16:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Nokia has made its Here mapping app available to Samsung Galaxy smartphones, Digital Spy reported. It is the first move Here has made away from Windows Phone as it attempts to offer an alternative to Google Maps. The app is still in beta, so only Android users with a Samsung Galaxy device can get hold of it for now through Samsung's Galaxy app store. Here not only provides up-to-date offline maps and turn-by-turn navigation, but also allows users to store their routes in the cloud to access on another device. The app is designed to work on Samsung Galaxy smartphones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and higher, with no less than 1GB of RAM available. Here Maps was originally available on the Apple App Store until late 2013 when it was pulled due to incompatibility issues with iOS 7. In May, it was rumoured that an iOS version could relaunch alongside an Android counterpart, after a job listing appeared on LinkedIn seeking a software engineer to develop "location-based services applications" for third-party mobile devices.
