Barry Levinson adapted the comedic drama from Philip Roth's final novel. Pacino plays washed-up stage actor Simon Axler, who begins to struggle to separate reality from fiction. In rehab, he meets a young woman (Greta Gerwig) seems to help with his recovery. But as he is drawn further into her family life, it begins to appear that they might be very bad for each other. Dianne Wiest, Kyra Sedgwick, Dylan Baker, Charles Grodin and Nina Arianda also feature in the movie. The Humbling will be released in the US on January 23.
