Prosecutor urges fraud trial for Spanish Princess Cristina's husband

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Spanish prosecutor is urging that Princess Cristina's husband be tried for possible fraud and embezzlement but says there's no basis for charges against the king's sister in the corruption case that has weighed heavily on the royal family, the Associated Press reports.

In his final accusation report, prosecutor Pedro Horrach called Tuesday for Cristina's husband, Inaki Urdangarin, to be sentenced to 19 1/2 years in prison should he eventually be tried and found guilty.

Horrach maintains there is no evidence to try Cristina on tax charges. He says the Supreme Court has already ruled that people can't be tried on tax charges if neither the prosecutor nor the tax authorities present charges.

Palma de Mallorca investigative judge Jose Castro must now decide who should be formally indicted in the case.
