BBC adapting J.K. Rowling’s "Cuckoo's Calling" into crime series

PanARMENIAN.Net - After "The Casual Vacancy", another work by J.K. Rowling is coming to television. BBC has announced that it is developing a small-screen adaptation of "The Cuckoo's Calling" and its follow-up "The Silkworm", which were written by the "Harry Potter" books author under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, according to AceShowbiz.

The network has commissioned the crime drama series based on the detective novels which feature war veteran Cormoran Strike who turns private investigator after losing a leg in Afghanistan.

BBC director of television Danny Cohen says, "It's a wonderful coup for BBC TV to be bringing JK Rowling's latest books to the screen. With the rich character of Cormoran Strike at their heart, these dramas will be event television across the world."

Rowling will be involved in the Cormoran Strike project, but other details are still not available. Production company Bronte Films will produce the "Cuckoo's Calling" TV series. The company is also behind "The Casual Vacancy" miniseries based on Rowling's adult novel of the same title. The three-parter will air in February on BBC One.

Rowling said at the Harrogate Crime Writing Festival earlier this year that she would write more Cormoran Strike novels than "Harry Potter" series which ended with a seventh book. "It's not seven. It's more. It's pretty open ended," she said.
