“The Blind Side” director to helm McDonald’s film “The Founder”December 11, 2014 - 13:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “The Blind Side” director John Lee Hancock is in talks to direct FilmNation’s “The Founder,” the story centering on how Ray Kroc turned McDonald’s into a global fast food empire, according to Variety. FilmNation is producing along with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield, who will produce through their production shingle, the Combine. The story is designed to be in the vein of “The Social Network” and shows how Kroc went from a simple salesman to one of the most powerful moguls in the world. “The Wrestler” scribe Robert Siegel penned the script. FilmNation has been trying to package the film for some time and had approached Hancock early on in the process, as well as his “Saving Mr. Banks” star Tom Hanks for the role of Kroc. Both passed at the time, and it’s unknown if these new developments will lead to Hanks reconsidering the offer to star. Sources also tell Variety that Michael Keaton had been chasing the role, but that he too wanted to see who came on as director before considering starring in the film. Hancock most recently directed “Saving Mr. Banks.”. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
