Paramount announces release date for "Star Trek 3"December 24, 2014 - 12:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Just one day after landing a director for "Star Trek 3", Paramount announced the release date. On Tuesday, December 23, it was announced that the movie depicting the adventure of the U.S.S. Enterprise crew would be released on July 8, 2016, AceShowbiz said. So far, the upcoming sci-fi film is the only one released on that date. Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children book "The BFG" is targeting a July 1, 2016 release, while Warner Bros.' "Tarzan" starring Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Christoph Waltz and Djimon Hounsou among others will also be released on July 1. Previously, the studio nabbed "Fast and Furious 6" director Justin Lin to replace Roberto Orci. Orci, who originally was tapped to take the directing gig after the previous two installments director JJ Abrams decided to pass on the project to work on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", backed out of the directing position earlier this month. However, he'll still be involved in the project as a producer.
