Sony showcases Google Glass rival SmartEyeglass Attach! at CESJanuary 7, 2015 - 11:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony is aiming to rival the Google Glass with an eye tech wearable of its own, Digital Spy reports. The company showcased its SmartEyeglass Attach! prototype, which clips onto an existing pair of glasses, at CES on January 6. An earlier version was unveiled in September last year, but it has since been improved with more apps and a single-lens version. It weighs around 40g, featuring a 640 x 400 pixel resolution display and Bluetooth for connecting to your phone. "With this module, Sony has achieved a compactness of size and a lightness of weight that make it possible to attach the module to a piece of eyewear," the company said. "It accomplished this by equipping the device with a high-resolution colour OLED microdisplay, a micro-optical unit that brings out the full potential of the display's high image quality, and a miniaturised control board with arithmetic processing capabilities on par with smartphones that was made possible by high-density packaging technology." There's currently no release date for the device although Sony is hoping to begin mass production sometime within the coming year. Elsewhere at CES, the firm also showed off new designer versions of its SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand.
