Steve Carell to join Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale in "The Big Short"January 15, 2015 - 12:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Steve Carell is being eyed for a role in "The Big Short". Just a day after it's revealed that Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale would star in the upcoming film, As AceShowbiz said citing The Hollywood Reporter, the 52-year-old actor is now in talks to join the three hunks. "The Big Short" is adapted from a best seller by Michael Lewis, the author whose books have also been turned into "Moneyball" and "The Blind Side". It will see Pitt and Co. portraying the key figures who were all partly responsible in the housing and credit financial problems in the 2000s that led to the 2007-08 global financial crisis. Gosling will play Deutsche Bank trader Greg Lippmann and Bale plays Michael Burry, the founder of Scion Capital who was also one of the first people to predict the coming financial crisis. Pitt has a supporting role as Ben Hockett, a partner at Cornwall Capital. Carell, meanwhile, is expected to play Steve Eisman, a money manager who shorted subprime mortgages for FrontPoint Partners. Pitt is producing the movie via his Plan B banner. Adam McKay is directing based on a script he also writes. Currently, there's still no word on when the production will start or when the film will hit theaters.
