Coen Brothers named presidents of Cannes Film Fest jury

PanARMENIAN.Net - Joel Coen and Ethan Coen have been named as the presidents of the 68th Cannes Film Festival jury. The announcement was made on Tuesday morning, January 20 in Paris ahead of the annual film festival which is set to take place on May 13-24, AceShowbiz reports.

The movie directors expressed their excitement over the positions in a statement. "We look forward to returning to Cannes this year," they said. "We welcome as always the opportunity to watch movies there from all over the world. Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career. Presiding over the Jury is a special honor, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time."

The brothers' appointment marks the first time Cannes Film Festival named two people as presidents of jury. The jury selection will be announced in April.

Coen Brothers made their debut in the festival in 1987 with "Raising Arizona". Since then, they won Palme d'Or in 1991 for their work "Barton Fink" and were awarded with Best Director for "Fargo" in 1996 and "The Man Who Wasn't There" in 2001. They additionally won Grand Prix in 2013 for "Inside Llewyn Davis".
