Azeris fire 10,000 shots at Karabakh positions on Jan 31-Feb 1February 2, 2015 - 16:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Over 500 instances of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijani troops were reported at the line of contact with the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) armed forces on Jan 31 and Feb 1. Azerbaijan fired 10,000 shots from various caliber weapons including 60-mm mortars and grenade launchers towards the Artsakh positions. The Karabakh frontline units continue controlling the situation at the frontline, retaliating in case of necessity. To ensure security at the contact line with Azerbaijan, the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic’s defense army took punitive measures on Saturday, Jan 31. According to the NKR Defense Ministry’s press office, as a result of the operation at the eastern sector of the contact line, two guard posts and a vehicle were disabled. Besides, at least two Azeri soldiers were killed. About 2,200 ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani armed forces were reported at the contact line from Jan 25-31. During the reporting period, some 40,000 shot were fired towards the positions of the NKR defense army. Azeris also undertook two penetration attempts, during which 3 of them were killed.
