Cinemax orders exorcism drama “Outcast” from “Walking Dead” creatorFebruary 13, 2015 - 11:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Another work by "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman is coming to the small screen. Cinemax has given a series order to exorcism drama "Outcast" based on a new Skybound/Image comic series by Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, AceShowbiz reports. The project was initially developed at Fox International Channels before Cinemax acquired the script and gave it a pilot green light last July. The HBO sibling network has now ordered 10 episodes of the drama, but has not announced the premiere date yet. "Outcast" follows Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), "a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate-and the fate of the world-forever." Reverend Anderson is described as a possibly delusional preacher, who believes he is a soldier in God's holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn't believe God intends us to sweat the small stuff. Gabriel Bateman also stars on the drama. Kirkman penned the pilot script and will serve as executive producer for the series along with Chris Black, David Alpert, Sharon Tal Yguado and Sue Naegle. Adam Wingard directed the pilot. "We are thrilled to be in business with Robert Kirkman, a visionary talent who has the unique ability to tap into today's zeitgeist, making him a perfect fit for the newly expanded Cinemax roster," said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo.
