Google working on next-gen Chromebook Pixel laptop

PanARMENIAN.Net - Google has let slip that it is working on a next-generation version of the Chromebook Pixel, a high-end laptop powered by Chrome OS.

Android and Chrome for Work and Education head Renee Niemi outed the machine during the recent Google Teamwork event.

"We do have a new Pixel coming out and it will be coming out soon. We will be selling it but I just have to set your expectations: this is a development platform," OMG! Chrome quotes her as saying.

"This is really a proof of concept. We don't make very many of these - we really don't. And... our developers and our Googlers consume 85% of what we produce. But yes, we do have a new Pixel coming out."

Specs for the Chromebook Pixel successor are yet to be confirmed, but it has been tipped to retain the 12.85-inch touchscreen and type C USB port of its predecessor, as well as its premium price tag.

Google could announce the laptop at its I/O developer conference in May, given that the original Pixel was revealed at the same event in 2013.
