Project Morpheus VR headset to be released in early 2016March 4, 2015 - 10:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Project Morpheus has been given a new prototype and release window at its GDC 2015 event, according to Digital Spy. The virtual reality headset will be available for consumers in the first half of 2016. The updated prototype features an OLED display at 1920x1080 pixels, meaning that all pixels have RGB sub-pixels for a "beautiful" HD image, removing motion blur seen in LCD in the last prototype. The headset also has a 120Hz refresh rate, which SCE worldwide president Shuhei Yoshida said the PS4 was designed to support from day one, as well as a 5.7 inch screen and a 100 degree field-of-view. On the outside, the device now has nine tracking LEDs, as well as a more user-friendly design that's easier to put on and remove, with weight distributed to the top of the device instead of at the front, as with conventional virtual reality headsets. Four new demos have been designed with the new prototype; London Heist created by SCE London Studio, The Deep with new sea creatures, Bedroom Robots and Magic Controller by Sony's Japan Studio. Project Morpheus was revealed for the first time at GDC last year. Sony's SCE London Studio said it is interested in bringing social experiences to the device.
