Situation at borders relatively calm: Defense Ministry spokesman

PanARMENIAN.Net - Last night, the situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan border and Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact, was relatively calm, Panorama.am said quoting the Defense Ministry spokesman.

“The situation is stable, there is shooting, but it is less intense,” Artsrun Hovhannisyan said, adding that the tension has declined.

As he noted, the relative calm and the enemy’s silence are a result of the response actions taken by Armenian forces and measures to ensure security on the borders.

The Nagorno Karabakh Republic defense army soldiers Hakob Khachatryan (born in 1996), Edward Hayrapetyan (born in 1995) and Arshak Harutyunyan (born in 1995) were killed on March 19, as a group of Azerbaijani special forces attacked the Armenian positions in the northern direction of the line of contact (Gyulistan), Public Radio of Armenia reports citing the NKR Defense Ministry.

According to the report, four more soldiers were wounded in the attack.

After a two-hour fight, the Armenian side repelled the rival, destroying the group close to its military positions.
