Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy’s “Mad Max” to screen at CannesMarch 26, 2015 - 11:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - George Miller‘s “Mad Max: Fury Road” will screen out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival, the festival announced, according to TheWrap. In the fourth installment of his dystopian franchise, Miller revisits a future he first imagined in 1979’s “Mad Max”: Water and oil are in short supply, civilization has collapsed and mankind is on the brink of insanity — while the brutal desert sun bakes it all into oblivion. Tom Hardy takes over for Mel Gibson in the role of Max Rockatansky, who comes face to face with the Empress Furiosa (Charlize Theron), who is fleeing a gang in hot pursuit. The entire film is reportedly presented as a single car chase sequence, and footage first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last summer blew audiences away. Nicholas Hoult and Zoe Kravitz also star. “Mad Max: Fury Road” (official site) premieres at the Cannes Film Festival in France on May 14 and will be released on May 15.
