Rihanna premieres “American Oxygen” music video on Vevo

PanARMENIAN.Net - While we're used to Rihanna being the ultimate pop vixen in her music videos, her latest clip has a very clear political edge to it. The star originally unveiled the visual for 'American Oxygen' exclusively on the Tidal streaming service (which she part owns), but has now uploaded it for fans to view on her official Vevo account, Digital Spy said.

The video sees Rihanna performing the track in front of an American flag, while archive footage ranging from the US Civil Rights movement and the moon landings, to Beatlemania and Barack Obama's election as the first black President of the United States appear.

There are also many other important and inspirational political and cultural references throughout the 'American Oxygen' visual, complementing the narrative of the track.

American Oxygen' is the third cut to be lifted from Rihanna's upcoming new album, and was officially released on iTunes on April 16.

It follows previous singles 'FourFiveSeconds' and 'Bitch Better Have My Money', and Rihanna's eighth album is expected to land later this year.
