New York Life to Pay Compensations to Armenian Genocide Victims' Heirs

PanARMENIAN.Net - From today New York Life Insurance Co will pay off insurance policy to the heirs of those who insured their lives during the years of the Armenian Genocide. "Today the judge will take a decision, according to which 3.5 thousand people will receive the sum due for them. Till the end of September the heirs of the Armenian Genocide living in Armenia will also receive compensation," lawyer Vardkez Yeghiayan told RFE/RL. In his words, some 1600-1700 appeals were received from Armenia. The same number of appeals came from the United States and some 500 appeals were received from Europe.



Presently the case of AXA Insurance company is being considered. A special website with the names of those were insured by AXA will be launched. On Monday the lawyers will proceed to the case of Deutche Bank. Then work with other French and British insurance companies will be started. "The process will go on," Vardkez Yeghiayan said.
