Samsung Galaxy S6 to support raw captureMay 6, 2015 - 13:31 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge boast one of the best smartphone cameras on the market - but that doesn't mean Samsung has finished improving it, Digital Spy reports. Reports suggest that the incoming Android 5.1.1 update will bring RAW capture to the Korean firm's latest handsets, bringing them in line with the HTC One M9 and LG G4. RAW capture mode enables users to shoot images in DNG or digital negative, the format camera sensors originally interpret them as before JPEG conversion. Images are processed, tweaked and compressed during JPEG conversion, so gaining access to the digital negative file allows users to manually optimise them with software like Photoshop. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge included RAW capture when they were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March, but Samsung shut off the feature at launch, according to SamMobile. Samsung apparently has further camera-centric updates planned, with shutter speed control and more manual controls also in the pipeline.
