Spotify "planning to expand to video streaming"May 8, 2015 - 16:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Spotify is in the business of music streaming, but the company may be planning to expand to video streaming in the future. As Digital Spy reports citing the Wall Street Journal, Spotify has been approaching those who specialize in producing content for YouTube. It's thought that the firm has been looking into buying some existing content, as well as forming partnerships to make original video. Some of Spotify's rivals already offer video services, such as Tidal - which provides access to music videos and exclusive content - and Google's Music Key, which allows users to watch music videos ad-free. It's not clear exactly what sort of video content Spotify may have in mind at this time, but it doesn't necessarily revolve around music. Spotify has announced that it is holding a press event on May 20, although the rumoured video interests are apparently in the early planning stages, so any further information is unlikely to be revealed.
