Earlier EU and OSCE representatives stated many times that they consider the holding of a referendum in the TMR inexpedient. OSCE Chairman-in-Office Karel de Gucht stated that «the Transnistria referendum will further complicate the situation in the region,» Interfax reported referring to a statement of European Commission official representative Pietro Petrucci.
