“Now You See Me 3” hit crime thriller sequel in development

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Now You See Me: The Second Act” doesn’t hit theaters until June 2016, but Lionsgate is already working on a sequel, TheWrap reports.

“We’ve already begun early planning for ‘Now You See Me 3,'” studio CEO Jon Feltheimer said Friday during a call with analysts to discuss quarterly earnings.

“Now You See Me,” a magical crime caper starring Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, was a sleeper hit in 2013.

Although it grossed just under $30 million its opening weekend, it went on to pull in $117.7 million domestically, and $351.7 million worldwide.

The star-studded cast returned for the sequel that already wrapped production, and Feltheimer believes it will top its predecessor at the box office. This time around, Jon M. Chu (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) is directing.
