Surface Pro 3 faster than iPad Air 2, research suggestsJune 12, 2015 - 15:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Surface Pro 3 might lag behind the iPad Air 2 where sales are concerned, but research suggests that it is a markedly faster tablet, Digital Spy reports. A study by consumer watchdog Which? found that the Microsoft slate is 20% speedier than its rivals, including the latest iPad and the Google Nexus 9. Each tablet was put through its paces using the industry-recognised Geekbench software, with the Surface Pro 3 coming out on top with a score of 5,069. The iPad Air 2 came in second with a score of 4,046, and the HTC-made Nexus 9 was third with 3,537. Where smaller tablets are concerned, Apple's iPad Mini 3 was beaten by Tesco's Hudl 2, a device that is more than three times cheaper to buy. "Our tablet speed test is a great indication of how fast tablets can run when downloading apps or using multiple functions at once," said Which? editor Richard Headland. "Nowadays we expect everything in a swipe or a click of the button, so understanding how quickly a tablet is able to process information is important to buyers." Samsung's tablet line did not fare particularly well in the trials, with the Galaxy Tab Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S coming in sixth and seventh, behind the original iPad Air and Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX.
