Russian soldier found dead in the aftermath of Gyumri massacre

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian soldier has been killed in Gyumri, the city where the Armenian family was assassinated by another Russian serviceman in January.

As UT reports citing Interfax-Russia, the Russian soldier was found dead near the Mother Armenia monument in Gyumri. He was stationed at the 102nd Russian military base. Valery Permyakov, who stands accused of killing seven members of a local family, was also stationed there.

Sona Truzyan, the spokesman of Armenian investigative committee said, "The body of Russian serviceman Ivan Novikov was found near the Mother Armenia monument, with stab wounds detected."

The killing of the Armenian family caused large-scale protests demanding Permyakov to be tried by an Armenian court. Russian officials insisted, however, that the trial should be conducted by a Russian military court in Armenia.
