Karabakh Problem Discussion in UN to Make Stepanakert's Participation Essential

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Armenia allies with Russia in the issue of the GUAM's initiative on 'frozen conflicts', Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said in Yerevan. He remarked that the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly bears a consultation and recommendation nature and unlike the UN Security Council's resolutions should not necessarily be implemented. He also said that the U.S. voted in favor of the resolution, France abstained, while Russia voted against. "This by no means refers to the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. However, any discussion of the problem in the UN will make Stepanakert's participation in the talks necessary," Vartan Oskanian underscored.

When touching upon the fires in the NKR near-border zones Vartan Oskanian said that an expert group that will hold a monitoring in the region has been already formed. "For our part we promise full support to the experts," said the RA FM.
