According to BBC News, an official has told the state-run news agency MENA that the blast was caused by a car bomb. No group has said it carried out the attack. Five people have been wounded, including two police officers, medics at the scene said. Egypt's public prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, was killed last month by a car bomb attack in the city.
