Google announces Android Marshmallow OS rollout

PanARMENIAN.Net - Google has finally revealed that the 'M' in Android M actually stands for its favorite sweet treat… the Marshmallow! An official roll-out of the operating system Android Marshmallow was announced in a blog by Google on August 17, Digital Spy reports.

Google is already encouraging designers to begin testing new apps for Marshmallow through the SDK Manager system, ahead of its consumer launch this autumn.

Among the new features included in Android Marshmallow will be improved fingerprint support and an updated permissions interface.

There will now be eight permission categories, with an opt-in system used for application permissions.

Jamal Eason, Google's product manager, wrote in his blog: "Along with the new platform features like fingerprint support and Doze power saving mode, Android Marshmallow features a new permissions model that streamlines the app install and update process."

Google first announced plans to release Marshmallow at its annual I/O conference last May in San Francisco.
