Facebook to take on Google, Siri with “Moneypenny” AI assistantAugust 31, 2015 - 10:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Looking to bring the fight to Apple, Google and Microsoft (the bunker-dwelling villains in this scenario), Facebook has lifted the lid on its own personal voice assistant, Digital Spy reports. Formally known as 'M', the Siri, Google Now and Cortana rival was reportedly developed under the codename 'Moneypenny' in a not so subtle nod to Bond's iconic assistant. Set to be based within the company's Messenger application, Facebook M will offer a more natural user experience, hosting the ability to complete tasks on behalf of its human master. "Unlike other AI-based services in the market, M can actually complete tasks on your behalf," said Facebook VP David Marcus. "It's powered by artificial intelligence that's trained and supervised by people." Taking a break from sorting the accounts and a stack of dodgy passports for the world's most iconic spy, M will always be on hand to answer your questions. Not limited to simple search-based answer hunting, M will also help you order things online, make dinner reservations, and send gifts to friends. Facebook said that M is currently in testing and does not have a rollout date yet.
