Samsung-owned SmartThings unveils new smart home hubSeptember 3, 2015 - 14:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Forget smartphones and smartwatches, the smart home is the future and Samsung has just announced a range of products to run everyone's houses and flats, Digital Spy saod. Following the company's recent acquisition of IoT specialist SmartThings, Sammy has unveiled a family of smart home products to make keeping tabs on your home's security, activity and well-being a whole lot easier. Set to hit retailers on September 10, Samsung is introducing five separate home sensors. From a burglar-catching motion sensor to a leak-finding moisture sensor via a temperature and door knock-noting multi-sensor, the company has all corners of the connected home covered. There's also smart power outlets and presence sensors, which can be set to automated tasks when you leave or arrive home, in the mix. All need a specialist hub to work, but can be controlled and monitored from your smartphone once set up. All handsets are covered too, with the SmartThings app available on iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. Samsung is introducing a SmartThings StarterKit brimming with all of the above - minus the moisture sensor.. While Samsung's own-brand products are a starting point to the world of the connected home, the SmartThings platform plays nice with all manner of third-party products, from thermostats to door locks.
