  French MPs visit Nagorno Karabakh defense army bases September 5, 2015 - 16:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - France's Socialist Party MPs visited the Nagorno Karabakh Republic defense army bases, the NKR Defense Ministry press office reports. The French parliamentarians asked about the frequency of ceasefire violations at the frontline, examined the soldiers’ social and living conditions and the characteristics of frontline combat duty. The situation was tense on Armenian-Azerbaijani border and at contact line between NKR and Azerbaijan. 1000 ceasefire violations by Azeri armed forces were registered in the reporting period, with around 14,000 shots fired from various caliber weapons, including 60-, 82- and 120mm mortars, RPG-7 and HAN-17 grenade launchers.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
