Raspberry Pi DIY computer now has its own touchscreen

PanARMENIAN.Net - Raspberry Pi just became a lot more portable thanks to the release of an official touchscreen display for the micro-computer, according to Digital Spy.

Although the DIY machine could be hooked up to any monitor or TV display via HDMI, you wouldn't want to carry one of those things around with you.

The embeddable display is a 7-inch 800 x 480 panel that supports ten-finger touch and costs $60 from all Raspberry Pi sellers.

The Raspberry Pi is a low-cost PC that measures in around the same size as a credit card, created to stimulate an interest in computing among youngsters.

Although the computer still ships as a bare-bones offering without keyboard or mouse, official casing was released in June so users no longer have to source their own shell.

Raspberry Pi has found itself in competition with recent initiatives from British startup Kano and the BBC's Micro Bit computers.
