The device was unveiled by the company's mobile chief Peter Koo at the Oculus Connect 2 press conference on Thursday (September 24). The new Gear VR is 22% lighter than the original model at 310g and works with the latest Samsung phones, including the Galaxy Note 5 and all models of the Galaxy S6. It features a redesigned touchpad that juts out for easier access and is more cushioned inside, making it more comfortable to wear. The field of view is unchanged at 96 degrees, but the interpupillary distance has been decreased to 54-70mm. Samsung is launching the new Gear VR in November, priced at $99.
