Robert Englund won't return as Freddy in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”![]() October 1, 2015 - 13:31 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - There have been rumblings that New Line Cinema is in the early stages of developing a new "A Nightmare on Elm Street (2017)". Although the actor who portrayed the iconic Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund, said that he wanted to do the movie, it doesn't mean that it will bring him back as the creepy Dream Demon, AceShowbiz reports. Englund took to Twitter to inform fans that he would not star as Freddy. "Just for the record, I will NOT be starring as Freddy in any new Nightmare projects, real or fictional," he wrote. Fans should not be upset as Englund hinted at another alternative to appear in the horror movie. "They're not gonna be bring me back for Freddy. Perhaps they'd bring me back in a cameo as an elderly dream expert at the local clinic for dream analysis or therapy?" he previously said. Thus, people still can expect his appearance in the upcoming movie although not as Freddy. New Line executives Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter will oversee the project on behalf of the studio. David Leslie Johnson, who wrote "Red Riding Hood" and "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist", will pen the screenplay. The horror movie is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2017. ![]() ![]() Ara Aivazian said Azerbaijan continues the traditions of Turkey after seizing territories and forced Armenians out.
