Scott Shepherd joins Matt Damon in “Bourne” sequel

PanARMENIAN.Net - Scott Shepherd has closed a deal to join Matt Damon in Universal’s next installment in the “Bourne” franchise, Variety reports.

Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones are also on board for the project, and Julia Stiles is set to return as well.

Paul Greengrass is back to direct (his first since helming 2007’s “The Bourne Ultimatum”) and co-pen the script with Christopher Rouse. Frank Marshall again produces the action-thriller alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. Rouse and Henry Morrison serve as executive producers.

Plot details are unknown at this time, though sources say Shepherd will play the deputy director of the CIA.

Production is under way in Budapest. The film will bow on July 29.

Damon’s three Bourne movies, which began in 2002 and ended in 2007, grossed nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Shepherd can be seen in DreamWorks’ “Bridge of Spies” as Tom Hanks CIA handler. He also has HBO limited series “The Young Pope” coming out next year, in which he joins Jude Law and Diane Keaton, as well as “The Oppenheimer Strategies” opposite Richard Gere.”
